Excerpt of full letter (see document 10920, January 29, 1779). Read out in
Congress. Received information from General Jacob Bayley and Colonel Timothy Bedel.
Believes British provisions are getting depleted very quickly. Admiral Gambier sent
prisoners from New York to New London in three ships flying flags of truce; Admiral
Byron sent a group to General Sullivan from Rhode Island; Admiral Hughes in cartel ship
from Halifax sent another group -- 625 prisoners in all. General Heath wishes to know
what Congress will do with the Ensign John Brown, held under sentence of death in
Boston.
