Abstract
Demarest, 49 years old, born in Hackensack in Bergen County and resident there, is not interested in the outcome of the controversy. He says that the persons named in exhibit C, No. 42 are either freeholders or inhabitants in Bergen County. They all live northward of the line recently run by James Clinton and Anthony Dennis, and all pay taxes to New Jersey. The lands mentioned in the exhibit have b een part of the Province of New Jersey for as long as Demarest can remember. Ten or twelve years ago, his father told him that they had belonged to New Jersey for at least sixty or seventy years. Signed by John Demarest. In Jay's hand.
