- Abstract
- His attempt to mine lead for the Continental army has been frustrated by the exposed nature of the frontier settlements in western Pennsylvania. As a result he has expended large amounts of money and labor in the erection of a defensive fort. He fears lest his lack of success should encourage private speculators to attempt to mine the lead and sell it at a high price to the Army.
