- Abstract
- The deponent, 65 years old, resident in Pennsylvania, is not interested in the controversy. He believes Sandy's Town and Montague lie in New Jersey. The 54 persons with F before their names in Exhibit 49 are freeholders, and the others are householders and inhabitants living north of the line run by Clinton and Dennis. All named paid taxes and did duty in New York up to 14 years ago, and since then to New Jersey. Forty years ago, Johannes and Nicholas Westfall [Westphal]; Teunis and Rimerick Quick, Cornelius De Doucher, John Decker Sr. and Henrick Decker, who live at Mackhackamack, told him that they held their lands under New Jersey, but that before the last war, they had been compelled to pay taxes to New York. Rosenkrans has never heard of marked trees on Minisink Island or along the Delaware which indicate the border between New York and New Jersey. Signed, Hermanus Rosenkrans, His mark. In Jay's hand.
