[Document, 1769 September 07]
Abstract
The deponent does not remember any conversation with Richard Gardner about the reasons the proprietors of New Jersey had people lease the disputed lands from New Jersey. However the deponent asked Richard Gardner what the proprietors did with the money received from the leases. Gardner replied that they were to be used to defray the expenses of any controversy which might arise between New York and New Jersey over these lands. Signed by Samuel Seely. In Jay's hand.
