Abstract
According to instructions from the council, Philip Wells, surveyor of the Province of New York, was to run a line between New York and East Jersey, beginning in the latitude of 41 degrees and 40 minutes on the Delaware River, make a mark at that point, and give a punctual report, together with the other surveyors, and deliver it quickly at the Secretary's Office. Wells should also notice the nature of the soil and of the country and give Governor Dongan a report on it. From the Secretary's Office, New York, Minutes of the Council.
