- Abstract
- The dejection and despondency of the inhabitants of Tryon County is both shameful and deplorable. They should be interested enough in their own fate to"put their Shoulders to the Wheel." Morris should not have been so incautious as to write in his letters that the Governor offered to exchange two New England soldiers for one from New York, or "that Sinclair alone of the 4 Gen. was worth a Crown." I n his letters Morris should be sure to include "Paragraphs for thePublic", for "People suspect the worst because we say nothing." Typescript of 12846.
