Title:
Document, 1795 April 05
Abstract:
After examining the papers sent to him in the morning, John Jay finds that he will need more information in order to advise Lord Amherst concerning his lands in the United States. Upon arrival in America John Jay will find out the exact situation of the lands, whether any settlers are on them, and the terms for which they might be rented. He will send this information to Lord Amherst as soon as possible. John Jay thinks it advisable for Lord Amherst to have an attorney to supervise the survey of the land, its rental, and the disposition to be made with any intruders upon it. John Jay, on the point of leaving for home, thanks Lord and Lady Amherst for their many attentions while he was in London.
