- Typed copy. Bayard, who has heard of the purpose of John Jay's mission and of his safe arrival in London, hopes that "the business between the two Countrys will prove beneficial and Lasting to both, for no man alive loves nor wishes better to his Darling Native Country than I do." Bayard invites John Jay to be his guest at Southampton and in a trip to visit Portsmouth and the Isle of Wight.
