Abstract
Describes conference with Floridablanca of 25 February. John Jay's letter has been laid before the King. Floridablanca asked whether Carmichael preferred to communicate this information to John Jay or whether a formal letter from Floridablanca himself would be preferred. Carmichael indicated that the latter would be best and encloses Floridablanca's letter of 24 February. Describes warm reception a t court. If John Jay decides to come to Madrid in consequence of Floridablanca's letter, asks for notice so that housing can be arranged. Autograph letter signed with cipher decoded by John Jay. Endorsed.
