- Abstract
- Assumes John Jay has seen the controversy in the Herald on the authorship of "individuals who contributed to" The Federalist. The correspondent of the National Intelligencer claims for Mr. Madison some which were supposedly written by Hamilton, and #54 which had been ascribed to John Jay. Could John Jay, at least, "either from written documents or recollection," speak with certainty as to the numbe r written by himself, "and whether there were 4 or 5."
