- Abstract
- Agrees with Harper that Jay's letter should not first appear in a newspaper, but rather in some way connected with Harper's address. Original copy of treaty of 1785 is probably in the private papers of Dr. Franklin. Jay looked for it in the State department files and did not find it; presumes the ratification was of the preliminary articles of peace, which are in State Department files. Cannot unde rstand why Adams was sent to London to do nothing- strange things are done these days.
