- Abstract
- Receipt of Clinton's letter of 6 April 1781; complains of having few letters from friends in New York. Have heard many rumors, but received little reliable news from America since July. John Jay expects that peace will not come this winter, but that "at least one more campaign" will be needed to end war. Glad to hear that Gouverneur Morris may be in N.Y. delegation to Congress. Asks Clinton to send any news he has of Peter Jay's family.
