- Autograph Letter Signed Version of document 10318. Endorsed by John Jay. Refers to John Jay's letters of 21 February, 11 March and 1 April. Pleased that John Jay has been promised $150,000. Asks John Jay to draw on his (Franklin's) funds for living expenses. Suggests that John Jay succeed him in post in Paris. Grand authorized to pay d'Yranda's bills. John Jay not to relax his efforts to get more money from Spanish court. Dana to be Minister to Russia. Adams to replace Laurens in Holland. Good opinion of Grand. Transmits copy of letter to Congress concerning peace negotiations.
