Abstract
Jay forwards letter of Council of Safety (signed Peter Van Cortlandt) to General Putnam, in which the Council states it is greatly irritated that a measure so reprehensible as the evacuation of Ticonderoga should be imputed to General Schuyler in whom they have the greatest confidence. Jay's covering letter to Schuyler assures the General of his friendship and belief in his integrity.
