[Document, 1777 December 11]
Abstract
Received Schuyler's of 6th. Efforts made to postpone the organization of government under the new constitution. Agrees with Schuyler's ideas for a new campaign and the obstruction of the Hudson River. Glad that Schuyler's patriotism is unabated despite the ingratitude of the people. A record should be left to inform posterity of the facts of the case. The virtuous and sensible retain their regard f or Schuyler. The residue will ever be directed by accident and circumstance.
