Chile
IFP for the Andean Region and Southern Cone (IFP AR & SC), implemented in Chile and Peru, was among the four pilot IFP programs; it began in November 2000 and formed its first Fellow cohort in 2001. The coordination of the program was the responsibility of the EQUITAS Foundation, the IFP International Partner, which also administered the Chilean program in. Founded in 2002, the EQUITAS Foundation (previously known as International Foundation Scholarship Fund) is a non-profit organization whose main objective is to contribute to building more equitable and democratic societies through research, development and dissemination of affirmative action measures toward greater social and cultural integration. Between 2001 and 2010, 145 Fellows from Chile were selected for the program. Total number of Fellows in the IFP AR&SC reached 363 as of February 2013; 271 of them consented to provide researchers access to their files.
The Chile and Peru IFP program closed its operations in 2013. The archive received 12.5 linear feet of paper materials for IFP-Chile in April 2013 and digital materials for Chile and Peru (2.69 GB) was received as a single set of files in June 2013. The materials include administrative program files, fellow files, images, presentations, publications, multimedia, and archived websites in English and Spanish.
