- Summary
- Thanks him for sending the sheep. Regrets the impediments to importing merino Rylands, especially in view of possibilities from cross-breeding. The husbandry of our country improves fast; our farmers are less ignorant and less attached to prejudices than those of other countries. They will more readily follow the lead of skillful and successful agriculturists and thus facilitate our progress as an agricultural people. A copy of Richard Peters' Memoirs has been placed in the town library and is read with avidity. The remark relative to M. is just. Is sorry that "your Favourite (Selima) has 'gone to the Dogs." He himself remembers a favorite mare belonging to his father whose remembrance recalls agreeable times. Since his neighbor is a Democrat, he deserves credit for letting Jay have a pair of his best lambs at the ordinary price. There are few men in whom there are not some traces of original good.
