- Jay's ill health. Has forwarded Lafayette's letter of 15 October to Congress. Hopes for peace in Europe. Constitution has been adopted by six Stated. Opposition considerable in New York. Pleased with Franco-American commercial regulations, but hopes that more will be done in this regard. Thinks that French should have all commercial privileges of American Citizens and Americans all privileges of French subjects.
