- Summary
- Although the assembly of Notables is not representative it is a step in the right direction, and has begun France thinking on new political terms. Lafayette has succeeded in carrying a motion for religious toleration, with support from the Roman Catholic clergy, and a motion for an examination of the laws, particularly in criminal cases. De Latonne's letter will be immediately made into an arret du consul (decree of the council?).
