- Summary
- Is honored to learn that he has been elected president of the American Bible Society by the Board of Managers. Since no person should accept an office unless he is able and willing to perform its duties, he must decline the position. Poor health and the "increasing Infirmities of age" have confined him to his home for the past twelve years. Were he in capacity to do the duties of the office, he should accept without hesitation.
