Summary:
Understands that the mill will be operational this fall. Cost more than he would have liked, but under LyonsÆ sonÆs management, believes will be profitable. Will return early in the spring; imagines many improvements will have been made to the farm in his absence. Details on what Jay wants done to the grounds. Will bring turnips back from England, but because of uncertainty of the crop, should pay more attention to potatoes. Hopes the mills will be in good working order, especially saw mill for spring work. Surprised at how much hay had been cleared. Should try to do still more. "On this farm," Jay writes, "more Proffit is to be had from Grass, than from the Plough." Think about fertilizing fields with manure from stables and barnyards.
