- Summary
- Encloses a copy of the orders to have a detachment of the militia in attendance for the execution of John Young. Does not know how much credit to give to the Sheriff's intimations that a rescue of the prisoner might be attempted. However, he feels it is important that the authority of the law should be seen to "bear down all opposition." He has therefore ordered a larger detachment than may appear proportionate to the apparent danger.
