- Summary
- The Dutch minister has presented a protest against duties imposed by the commonwealth of Virginia, which apply to all brandies except French brandies. This is contrary to the "most favored nation" treatment, which is guaranteed to Holland under the U.S.-Netherlands treaty. Jay suggests a resolution that States should extend these concessions to all nations having "Most favored nation" clauses in their treaties. (After this proposed resolution is a note, "Agreed, Oct. 13".) The endorsement indicates that this was the date the resolution was passed./
