- Summary
- Houdon thinks he make the equestrian statue of Washington more cheaply than any other artist in Paris because he is in possession of a foundry. The devices in bas relief will add considerably to the expense. Jay thinks they will be useless and it would be better to leave it to the historians. Would rather see a simple inscription to the effect that citizens should follow his example.
