- Difficulties of sending mail overseas in these times. Forwards letter from Col. Williams concerning attempts of Gov. Simcoe to prevent settlement of Sodus. President doing all he can for peaceful settlement of such matters. Hammond does little to help matters. Insurrection in Pennsylvania seems to have ended peacefully. May serve to demonstrate citizens' horror at opposition to the law.
