- Summary
- Every true American rejoices that Washington has accepted command of the army. During the Revolutionary War we suffered from the inefficiency of too many military officers; the like mistake must now be avoided. Hopes "the late Secretary of the Treasury may be brought forward in a Manner corresponding with his Talents and Services." It is a good thing that the President, despite the diplomatic skill of France, stands high in the public estimation; "his measures will be rendered more and more glorious by successive Difficulties."
