- Summary
- Several Dutch merchants bought an English ship completely on their own and fitted her out. She sailed to Bermuda for water and soon after was captured by an American privateer and taken to South Carolina and a decision rendered against her by an American court of Admiralty. This ship was headed for Holland and not an English port. Van Berckel had written a letter on obtaining justice in this matter before and now asks Jay for additional information on the fate of the vessel.
