- Summary
- There are apprehensions that because of the petitions of militia officers, the persons named to the new companies will not be appointed. Hopes this is groundless as far as John Jay is concerned, since the ordinary militia officers cannot on military principles have any pretensions to new corps. To attempt to place new corps under present officers is to annihilate them. This opposition is probably an Anti federal scheme. Solicits a pardon for Janus Ross, convicted of forging a check.
