- Summary
- His letter to Hoffman was not official but was written to convey information. It would have been proper to account for the expenditure of a preceding warrant before receiving the next one; also "his Zeal in my favor rendered such Punctuality adviseable." Admits the propriety of the principles on which Hamilton believes a removal should depend. However, Hoffman's affairs are believed to be utterly irretrievable. Nothing which [the Comptroller] has said or done can be ascribed to hostility towards the Attorney General.
