- Summary
- Nancy shows great affection for her sisters and brothers, despite her lack of health. Still has not sent for Peter, Mary and the Miss Ridleys, the roads and rivers and full from recent storms. Like Maria, believes William is deserving of their esteem and affection, but wishes to ensure he does not become sedentary. Peter plans on resuming his business after spending the summer in Bedford; John Jay hopes his health will permit it but has doubts about the healthfulness of the air in New York. Glad of her good account of the two Sallys. Believes it time that the younger Sally should be inoculated with the vaccine (for smallpox). Sorry for the death of Dr. Linn and the poverty of his children. Glad that Mr. Banyer, Sr. has recovered his hearing. Judge Miller and Major Olmstead have both been sick this winter. Cannot avoid death and sickness by a 'not at home' sign.
