- Hopes to hear that 'the little favorite', Maria's daughter is recovered in health. Peter and Mary Jay are there, and brought Lydia Watkins with them, who was very ill with fever. John Jay's health is better; his ailments have abated somewhat. Nancy will try new prescriptions for her eyes and perhaps will visit Maria with John Jay. Cautions William to not work in the office until his eyes are better; wishes him to be a good lawyer but not at the expense of his health.
