Summary
The election has resulted in a mortifying defeat for the Federalists. Burr sat at the polls of the sixth ward to challenge electors, and Brockholst Livingston harangued the mob. What the end of this will be is hard to say, should it result in the election of Jefferson the prospect is gloomy indeed. An informality is rumored in the returns of the sixth ward; if that be the case the federalist candidates will have a majority.
