Believes the (yellow) fever in New York city does not exist, although avoids areas of town that might be dangerous. Advised his mother (Sarah Livingston Jay) to not return to Albany; the heat is terrible. Mr. and Mrs. Munro went to Mamaroneck where their youngest child has been very ill. Uncle Augustus's brig is finished but not sent; he has recently spent a lot of time with Sir James on the death of Van Wisekle. Has not yet heard from Major Lyons.
