- Summary
- Asks his father what to do about the sum of money to be paid the carpenters who have built his and Maria's houses. The carpenters have paid out $7,537 more than they have received in building both residences and though they have no legal demand against Peter, are throwing themselves on his generosity. The canal is nearly finished and will render necessary the raising of all their ground with enormous expense involved. Yellow Fever appears in several cities but is not yet at New York; the Board of Health is very vigilant.
