- Has consulted some principal Federalists who advised his acceptance of the Governor's appointment. They feel his active participation in the coming election would be unnecessary and improper. Quotes his letter to the Governor in acceptance of the office. Mr. Riker has agreed to open the Mayor's Court on Monday to concluded some unfinished causes, and Peter will be sworn in that evening. Progress on his new house. Rents have fallen and there are more houses to let than tenants for them. Has not rented his or Maria's house yet. Family news.
