- Summary
- Family news. Fears the Federalists in the Assembly at Albany are driving bargains in an undignified way. It is in their power to give the Council of Appointment either to Clinton or his opponents. Coleman has gone up, probably to secure the re-election of King. Peter has been approached by the Clintonians for the office of Recorder; the post was once held by Hoffman who is desirous of again holding it, but his conduct in trying to achieve his aim has made him odious to the Clintonian party. Asks John Jay's opinion as to whether he should be a candidate under these circumstances.
