- Was engaged last Friday in the trial of a man convicted of an attempt to export Negroes to Georgia, now punishable by imprisonment for fourteen years. Has received a letter from Mrs. Gouverneur Morris, who intends to publish a series of her late husband's correspondence and inquires whether John Jay wishes to withdraw some of his letters. Has informed Brockholst Livingston Jay's brother that John Jay had not undertaken anything further than the $100 paid for one year for the education and maintenance of the former.
