- Summary
- Thanks him for the election returns. It is extraordinary that there are accurate returns for remote counties but not for Westchester as yet. Tompkins is certainly elected; the Clintonians "either voted against us or not at all. "Encloses a letter relating to Chenango which William is to answer as he thinks best. Accounts by the morning's steam boat say that Col. Pike has taken York on Lake Ontario. We remained in possession of the town, but 200 men including Pike were killed.
