- Summary
- Delivered an oration yesterday at the request of the Washington Society. The Society walked in procession and was a very respectable gathering of more than two thousand. A ball was given in the evening to which Mr. Jackson was invited. However, discovering his attendance would give much discontent, he was prevailed upon not to come and accordingly sent in his apology. John Jay's letter to Mr. Wilberforce will be forwarded by Col. Barclay. Aunt Munro continues much the same.
