Summary:
High cost of living at Curacao, suggestions for investments by Jay. More about tobacco. Was glad to get letter of 28 April from Jay. Is pleased to hear that his employers are satisfied with his conduct. Is sorry the limes were bad by the time Jay got them. They are scarce now, but will send more as soon as he can obtained them. Hopes that Jay will like the roll of tobacco. Is now sending some "sugar tubes," and some "coco nuts." Is glad for Jay's advice to make his fortune quickly, but Curacao is expensive, and as he is just launching forth in the world he cannot expect much at first. Asks when he can receive his settlement from the "Jamaica Affair.""
