United States--History--Revolution, 1775-1783; Jay, John, 1745-1829
Summary:
Communicates the contents of his letter to William Duane, publisher of Franklin's works at Philadelphia, requesting to know what papers are referred to on page 293 of the fifth volume of the works, mentioned there as the journals of Adams and Jay. A note on page 291 of this volume cities the journal of Mr. Jay as giving the information that Sir William Jones was recalled from Paris by the British government and his project in America was abandoned. John Jay did not know that Jones was recalled, which is an additional reason for requesting the source of all this information. Will send a copy of Duane's answer to Adams.
