- Sarah Livingston Jay's father (William Livingston) teased her that her husband was lazy in writing, before producing John Jay's last letter. Modesty is inseparable from real virtue and is very apparent in his letter. Expresses anxiety for him. Kitty (Catherine Livingston) very pleased with John Jay's invitation to visit and his father's agreement to the plan. Discusses baggage transportation and accommodations. Her spirits were low, otherwise she would not have left their son Peter. She rode to Elizabeth and will go back with Kitty to Parsippany to wait for the Colonel's arrival. Hopes that their correspondence does not eat into his sleeping time, as she fears for his health.
