- Summary
- The family is all in good health and misses him very much. Saw his brother (Frederick Jay) this morning; he was still indisposed and confined to bed after having his knee lanced. It would be 'charitable' of John Jay to write to his brother. Judge Hobart visited a few days ago. Intends to invite him and Mrs. Hobart over to eat waffles. Visited Lady Temple yesterday and heard about John Jay. Major Post has secured the drain. One hogshead of 'Paynes red streak' has arrived; Dr. Jones would like a barrel of it but she wishes to know what John Jay thinks before responding. Walked out with the children today and visited Mrs. Barrett.
