Summary
Happy that they were both engaged in writing letters to each other at the same time, although believes she is far more attentive to their correspondence as he has other business to occupy his attention. The vessel on which Mrs. Barrington embarked for Halifax has been stranded. Mr. Barrington was prisoner for a third time. Mrs. Barrington's friends fear that she has perished along with many other passengers. Mr. Ferguson is visiting his wife in Elizabeth and will soon leave for England. His wife is abject; how few are untouched by troubles in these times. Wishes fervently for a restoration of peace, so she can once again be with 'her friend and counselor'.
