Summary
Does not understand how Jay has not received all her letters; has sent them on all ships leaving New York for England. Difficulties of separation. The family is well. Little Sally pretends to write to Jay herself. William a lovely child. Asks if Jay has sat for his picture. Stewart keeps his portrait. Maria wishes to enter society at Bethlehem to further her education; may resolve admission's problem with Judge Symmes' help. Has approved the plan in Jay's absence. Discussion of financial situation; purchased five shares in the United States Bank. John Lyon will write with state of Jay's affairs concerning him and his father. Encloses Minerva for his amusement. John Lyon brought carriage horses; not broken in yet. Has hired man to break them in; the coachman (Frank) also goes because needs as much training as the horses.
