Summary
Sentiments while viewing the ruins of Fort George and site of Fort William Henry. Transmits news of successes in Canada. Carleton reported to have gone to Quebec, where the Royal Emigrants are engaged in destroying the inhabitants who are favorable to the American cause. Suggests Jay call Congress' attention to a large supply of clothing seized by the soldiers at Montreal. It may probably be purchased more cheaply from the soldiers than it could be made and transported from New York or Philadelphia. High reputation of Henry Brockholst Livingston, his suitability for a colonelcy.
