Summary
When Littlepage came to Europe, Jay did not know that he was his only friend. He had expected to be reimbursed for his expenditures from time to time. States his arguments respecting Littlepage's joining the expedition of the Duke de Crillon. Refutes each of the points in Littlepage's previous letter. Refers to a certain gentleman who "would be glad to have a handle against me, either by imputing my opposition to a wrong motive, or else making me from political reasons act contrary to what my duty obliged me."
