Summary
Little page has been very ill with fever, and he has been unable to proceed to Madrid. Because of his illness he left the French family. He feels that his knowledge of French is sufficient. "The happiness of being in any degree useful to my counts is a summit to which my ambition dare not aspire." A letter from John Jay to Lewis Little page, 16 September 1780, is attached. John Jay agrees that Little page should journey to Madrid when his health permits. Asks him to bring a Barley or Chambauds French and English dictionary.
