- Criticism of Jay's ideas on appointment of clerks and licensing of attorneys, and division of states into districts. They were amazed at reading McKesson's letter "to his fellow secretary" to learn Jay's opinions on power vested in the courts. Jay's opinion very influential in the acceptance of the Constitution. Wish Jay had communicated his sentiments to them instead of allowing them to become public. They are convinced the clause in question stands right.
